News at Home: Happy New Year’s Eve!

Wow! Can y’all believe 2017 is already coming to an end? I swear, I feel like it hit 2016 just yesterday! It’s been quite the year – full of lots of changes, some good, some bad. I do feel like I reached a pretty good place in 2017 and I hope to keep that momentum up in 2018. I’m not really a New Year’s Resolutions kind of person, I make goals all the time and I’ll just continue with those goals in 2018.

I did spend a lot of time setting up my bullet journal for 2018 – lots of collections for the start of the New Year. I’m pretty sure I spent like 12 to 15 hours working on it this weekend. I know, that sounds like WORK but it’s honestly so cathartic for me so it’s not work at all. Kiko gave me an Amazon gift card for Christmas to use on my reading and bullet journaling. Well, I went with the bullet journal supplies since I didn’t have any of the journals I wanted for 2018 yet. And I’m on the last page of my current journal, so it’s perfect timing. I bought a purple Leuchtturm1917 A5 size and some smaller dot gird inserts to use in a Traveler’s notebook I ordered from the UK. It’s gorgeous and I’ll show y’all pictures when it comes in… it’s a custom order on Etsy so 6-8 weeks, plus shipping.

Speaking of Christmas gifts – when I posted last week, I hadn’t yet opened Christmas presents and I have to tell y’all… my family GETS ME πŸ™‚ I got some great book related gifts this year (that makes 2 years in a row)! My brother and his boyfriend gave me two of the beautiful illustrated Harry Potters. Franky and his family gave me a Harry Potter wallet (it’s perfect, with the crest on the front!) and a Harry Potter shirt (It says “Muggle by day, Wizard by Night” LOL!). Oh, and Kiko also gave me the Sims 4 Pets — I’ve since lost like 2 whole days to the Sims — and a heated foot massager (I think he doesn’t want to massage my feet anymore?). So some really great gifts!

Other than that, I’ve been stupidly lazy. My sleep schedule is all screwed up… I’m writing this at 3:30 in the morning and y’all, I usually WAKE UP at 4:30. So that’s going to suck on Tuesday when I go back to work. I’ve lost track of days completely… I mean today is Sunday the 31st right?! Again, going to suck going back to work. This is the LAZIEST I’ve ever been on a school break! Oh on Friday I went to see Pitch Perfect 3 with a friend and her daughters. It was so good! I love those movies and this one was just as funny as the first two πŸ™‚ After that I went to her place and since she’s as big of a Buffy fan as me (BIGGER honestly) we watched some stuff she had — the original pilot (unaired), Animated Buffy Season 8 (4 episodes), and a 20th anniversary interview. It was a fun day!

So I’m going to be vegging out for the most part today… seeing as I’m not even going to get to bed until probably 4am I’m definitely sleeping in. I plan to do some more bullet journal work — this time on my budget bullet journal. And we’re going to Franky’s mom’s in the early evening… we’ll do a bonfire and just hang out. We’ll head out probably by 9 or 10 so that we’re not on the roads to late. I’m planning to have a glass of wine — oh yeah! I had my first glass of wine since July on Christmas Eve and it was good! But I was tipsy after a half glass… officially a light weight! — so only 1 glass and we’ll see if I make it to New Year’s Eve. I plan to get my butt in bed so I can start the New Year getting back into my routine. I’m honestly really ready!

Blog News

I have only 3 posts to do for January and then I’m done! I’m going to try to do them today, so I can start January meeting my goal to be a month ahead at all times.

I’ve also rearranged my morning routine… I’m waking up at 4:30 starting January 2 instead of 4:55 like I used to. That extra 30 minutes is so that I have time to visit blogs in the morning. It’s the only way I’m going to manage it and I really want to do much better visiting y’all!

COYER Winter Switch Update

For this phase I’m working on the list… here’s my starting list:
COYER Switch List
Note: Turns out I don’t have Captive at Christmas like I thought I did, so I switched it out for A Christmas to Remember.

Read So Far

  1. Accidentally Dead by Dakota Cassidy
  2. The Accidental Human by Dakota Cassidy
  3. Accidentally Demonic by Dakota Cassidy
  4. Snowed In by Sarah Title
  5. A Christmas to Remember (collection of short stories)

That means I’m at 5 books! Yay! I can add to my list. And I’m not sure what I want to add… so I’m going to wait until I figure it out. For now I’m going to keep working on the list as it is.

#FitReaders Update

This has not been the best week fitness wise… see above comments regarding being lazy. Part of that was because I’m fighting a nasty cold. Nothing too serious, but I’ve had a bad cough with mucus (yuck!) and a really runny nose. I haven’t lost anything this week – but I’m okay with that, since I haven’t done much to encourage loss. I have maintained my 100 lbs down though πŸ™‚ so I’m good and I’m ready to get really back at it for January.

January goals

  • Drink 165 oz of water each day… I started sucking on the water front again. So I guess I do need to track it still!
  • Go to the gym 4x a week and do one C25K workout… hoping this comes back easily after virtually 2 weeks off!
  • Eat 90g of protein daily… I’ve been doing okay with this, but I need to do better tracking what I eat.

Keeping it simple, but focusing on the basics!

Days since surgery: 145 days
Total weight lost since surgery: 100 pounds

It's Monday! What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

I just finished…

Accidentally Demonic by Dakota Cassidy. I’m really enjoying these books more and more! I may add more of them to my COYER List.
Snowed In by Sarah Title. So good, hilarious and such a quick read.
A Christmas to Remember. I loved this collection of 4 HR Christmas stories – each one was better than the last πŸ™‚

Reading Now…

I’m on my last Accidentals read on my COYER list – Accidentally Catty – and I’m reading Crimson.

Up Next…

I’m either going to add more Accidentals to my COYER list or I’ll switch to one of my other audio books – not sure which one yet from the list. For a physical read, I’m thinking a Cat & Bones book. It’s been too long πŸ™‚

How was your week? What are you Reading?

  1. The Sims is addictive! I have Sims 3 for the PC but haven’t played in awhile because I sit down to play and when I look up it’s 12 hours later. But it’s so fun! The bullet journaling supplies sounds like a good way to spend your gift cards. I’m intrigued by the whole idea but haven’t actually started yet. I may have to in 2018. Have a great week and Happy New Year!

    • It’s so addictive! And yes… You lose all concept of time! I won’t touch it again until I have a break. Oh I love bullet journaling. I hope you get to try it out πŸ™‚

  2. Hooray for vegging out on your break. Sometimes doing nothing is the best thing to do. πŸ™‚ Sounds like you received some pretty awesome Christmas gifts, too. It’s been super cold here this weekend so I’ve basically been a hermit all weekend long. Then about an hour ago we lost power and I was like, “Uh-oh, it’s about to be a hella cold night.” LOL Thankfully power was restored after half an hour or so. Thank goodness! Here’s hoping 2018 is a great year for all of us!

    • OMG if my heat went out in the cold, I’d flip out. That’s why I wish I had a gas stove… That way I could at least get heat from that. Hope you’re new year is off to a good start!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Congrats again on the weight loss during 2017. I know it wasn’t easy, but you never gave up and you accomplished your goal.

I’ve been vegging and eating big time. It’s so cold here (actual temp right now is -3F, with a “real feel” of -18F) that I’m not working out at all. Plus, with the overeating and drinking, I feel like crap. Hopefully with routine and getting busy again, I’ll take off some weight and gain back energy. I’m going to need constant pushing for a while, I think!

I also didn’t read or listen to books much over the break. I didn’t make my 2017 goal by several books, so I lowered my goal for 2018. I will just go with the flow!

    • OMG!! – 18??!! No I would not function at that temp. I’d never get out of bed! I complain in the 20s… Good luck getting back into routine despite the cold.

Yeah I didn’t make my goodreads goal by several books as well. So I’ve cut back by 25.

  4. I was just commenting on how I am SO not prepared to go back to work on Wednesday! I have been staying up late, taking naps all after noon and my sleep schedule is shot. 5 am is gonna be a slap in the face. God help my students that day (although, they are high schoolers who will probably be running on less sleep than me anyway!)
    I hope you have a great 2018

    • Hahaha yeah I really am going to struggle on Wednesday. Hell I’ll struggle on Tuesday, just for in service! Good luck this week πŸ™‚ happy 2018!

    • Yeah when I started I took it very slow – I really only recently started doing collections. But gah, I love it… Mostly because you can make it your own. I hope you love it too πŸ™‚

  5. Twinsies! I also picked a purple Leuchtturm1917 A5 dotted for 2018. πŸ™‚ I only did an initial prep. I’m going to keep working on it over the next few days to set it up. Your family definitely gets you! Your HP haul sounds lovely. I love the illustrated books. I have been stupid lazy and staying up late like that, too. Last night was the worse – I think I crawled in bed at 5:30. Happy bullet journaling! I’m going to try to finish some books today.

    • Look at us twinsies… I also went to bed close to 5:30! We’re so going to regret it when we have to get back to work lol! Love the Leuchtturm1917 and I’m excited to have the purple this year πŸ™‚ I didn’t mean to do quite so much but I got addicted and next thing I knew I’d spent an entire day on it. Looks pretty though! Happy new year πŸ™‚

    • I think we may stop buying each other presents… It’s stressful lol! Soundsime a nice relaxing Christmas πŸ™‚
