Week in READview:

I was MIA last Sunday…..I ended up at the ER Vet because of Calliope. Something was off with her on Friday and Saturday. I thought maybe she had a tummy ache or something minor since she was eating, drinking and using the bathroom but by Sunday, I could tell something was wrong. I spent almost all day at the ER Vet with her, they took blood and the results came back normal she was just a little dehydrated. So they figured it was an infection so they gave her a shot of antibiotics that would last 2 weeks, a shot of anti inflammatory and gave her fluid for the dehydration. We went home that night and I just kept an eye on her.

Monday morning she was still really hot and I was just really worried, so I called our vet and made an appointment. Our vet was very concerned since her fever at this point was 105.6 (cats normal temp is 101 to 102). Since her blood work came back normal the vet wanted to check her urine. That also was normal, she stayed in the hospital for two days and was given fluid and force feed food.  On Wednesday she came home, all the test we did came back normal. The Vet said the diagnosis is most likely a Fever of Unknown Origin but a lot had been ruled out so that is good. It’s just we still really have no idea why she has a fever. We are treating her with antibiotics and aspirin, to reduce the fever. We monitor her temp and try to cool her off as much as possible. We have had to force feed her food and I also found that she liked Chicken flavored baby food (which smells awful, btw) which she did eat a bit of, thank goodness. We are heading in the right direction, she still have a way to go but after thinking we were going to lose her I don’t care how long it takes, as long as she is better. As of today her temp is now in normal range but we she will still need medicine for at least a month. Thank the heavens for Pet insurance!

My daughter starts cheer again after the place being closed for 14 days. She goes back on her birthday (Nov 2nd) I feel bad we can’t do something big for her this year but we will make it up to her next year. After tomorrow I will officially have only Teenagers in my house…lord help me!

The weather this week was pretty mild until the end of the week. We had a lot of rain and it got very cold. If you know me at all, you know I am very happy! 🙂

I had so much fun with all the posts we did in October, the Spooky Saturday and the Spooktacular. Some of my favorite posts are the seasonal ones. I have a few ideas for Christmas just working on the details and will start making a logo in a few weeks. I am trying to stay ahead if I can on the blog since the design work has been plentiful. I could always, however, use more 😉

I haven’t read a lot this week since I obviously had a lot of my mind but I plan to spend this week catching up on my reading and I had to lower my goodreads goal. I had it set at 60 and changed it to 50. This year didn’t go as planned. I am not even sure I will make it to 50 but I am going to at least try. I am currently at 35 books this year and that is still pretty good considering some people don’t even read one book.

What I grabbed:

I already have these in ebook but I wanted them in paperback so bad. At the end of August I started to read it but stopped for the series in a month challenge. I saw them on sale in paperback and grabbed them since I loved the first few chapters I read. I can’t wait to dive back into this series. This might be my next read.

  1. Oh no! Your poor cat! That would have been so scary. 🙁 I’m glad she’s doing better now though! And yes, thank god for insurance!
My devil cat – Dora – has something underlying that’s causing her a lot of problems but our vet has no clue what it is… Because she’s still eating, drinking and going to the bathroom, they’ve stopped investigating until after our second Lockdown ends (or she takes a serious turn for the worst!) It’s costing us a fortune as she’s pretty much un-insurable due to other underlying issues. *bangs head on wall*

    Happy birthday to your daughter!

  2. It snowed today here!!! Haha I was happy to see it too. Just a little, but it was kind of shocking to see white on the ground. Anyway, sorry to hear about your kitty, but I hope she’s continuing better and will be fine. It can be nervewracking when they get sick!

My reading has been down too.

I hope you have a good week. Be safe!!!

  3. So glad Calliope is moving in the right direction. I will wing {{{posivibes}}} your way so she continues to improve. We should really have pet insurance on ours but never got around to it.

I lowered my goal from 150 to 100 and I’m nearly there. That’s really low for me. Ugh. I hope this week is better and you get some reading done. XOXO

PS: Only a few more weeks and I can put up my Christmas header. weeeeee!

  4. What a scary week for you and your kitty. I feel helpless when they get sick like that. Glad she’s on the mend. Hope the cheer practice goes well for your daughter and she has a good birthday. Those books you’ve got on the list look pretty good. The Spooky posts were fun.

    Have a good week, Michelle!

    • I am glad we got the chicken because if I remember the beef was worse. She is moving in the right direction. We still wont really leave the house unless we have too. We don’t go to out to dinner at all or to any stores. I am fine with ordering stuff at home and I still am the only person at work that wears a mask.

  5. My poor Hubby is surrounded by females. Me and my two daughters (17yrs & 15yrs). There are times when he must feel it’s hell on earth! Lol!
I’m glad to hear that Calliope is recovering. What a worrying time for you. I hope next week is a fab one. x

  6. I’m so sorry to hear your cat has been feeling under the weather. It’s hard when a pet is sick. I hope she’ll get better really soon. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Hopefully the virus will be over soon and you guys can have a proper birthday party for your daughter! Have a great week!

  7. What a scare with Calioppe not doing so well, but that’s good news she’s slowly improving. Too bad they couldn’t figure out what was causing, but good they at least eliminated some possible causes. It’s so scary when a pet is not doing well :(.

I am happy yo hear your design work has been plentiful. You’re an awesome designer and I am happy you’re getting more work :). I am so excited about the work you’re doing for my new Lola’s Blog Tours site design.

Happy birthday to your daughter tomorrow!

    I hope you’ll have a good week

    • She is still walking around little in a daze but it could be because she is slowly getting back to eating,. She was breaking my heart. She is my responsible, independent one and seeing her like that killed me. I am glad it is nothing serious or at least we don’t think it is but having her slowly improve is so reassuring.

I love working with you and I am glad you like the new banner! I can’t wait to see it all finished and together on your site. 🙂

      Thank you! 🙂

  8. Glad to hear your kitty is doing well now. We had a health scare with our dog just in September, but he’s back to his normal self now. But yeah, never fun when your pet is sick and you don’t know what’s wrong. I’m glad your kitty is well though!

Nice new read too! That’s a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  9. Glad to her your kitties temp is down and she is doing better! I think you are doing pretty good reading wise! Aren’t you doing a lot better than last year? Anyway, 35 is great!! 🙂

Have a great week and happy reading!

I agree, pet insurance can come in really handy, one of my cat had pancreatite two years ago. Good luck for the teenagers at home, it makes me laugh but I can relate ! We’d all like nothing better than reading most of the time but life gets in the way, so 35 books is good ! Have a great week in spite of the teenagers and stay safe.
