News at Home
I didn’t keep up at all with writing my Sunday Post every night this week. Monday was just a busy day of work and I made it to the gym for the first time since December 1st!! Dante had a great day at school, but in the time from when I picked him up and put him in the car to the time when I got him out at home (so 5 minutes), he started running a fever. He felt perfect and then so warm. Took his temperature and it was 102 on the ear, plus he was breathing with heavy congestion. So we got the humidifier out with some vicks, rubbed some baby safe vicks on his chest, cleaned out his nose and some Tylenol. He woke up around 3am with a 101 fever so we did more Tylenol. I obviously kept him home Tuesday, but was able to work too. He basically just wanted to cuddle and go in his swing – he had only a low grade fever when he woke up (99-ish). He actually fell alseep in his swing around 12 so I moved him to his bed and he slept until about 3. When he woke up even the low grade fever was gone and was ready to play!! He actually tried to get me to take him to school – grabbed his backpack, shoes and socks and was pretty insistent we go outside. I decided to take him for a walk, but he wanted to go in the car… it was too cute.
Since he was still great the next morning, I did take him back to school – relieved that it was nothing serious (especially with Omicron hitting hard). I planned to go to the gym again Wednesday, but they actually closed down for deep cleaning until January 3rd, as an extra precaution with Omicron. I finished up work for the week on Wednesday and took Thursday off. Thursday was a mommy day – I spent it basically blogging, working on my bullet journal, and setting/assessing goals for 2022/2021. Friday we had a great family day relaxing, more bujo work, a nice walk, and then celebrating the New Year. I actually stayed up to midnight for the first time since Dante was born. Saturday after a pancake breakfast we went to the lake for a nice walk as the weather was still really pretty. This afternoon it started getting cooler and we’re headed for the 20s and 30s 🙁 I hope it passes quickly, I’ve been enjoying our warm winter!

Challenge Wrap Up for 2021:
I’m participated in 4 reading challenges this year. Here’s how I did:
Backlist Reader hosted by Lark @ Bookwyrms Hoard: 51 books
Library Love hosted by Books of My Heart & Angel’s Guilty Pleasures: 14 books
New Release hosted by (un)Conventional Bookworms: 31 books (15 were in the past month with the Filthy Dirty Christmas!)
COYER (Fall) hosted by Because Reading: 45 books
FitReaders (hosted by Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking About & Felicia The Geeky Blogger)
My big goal for 2021 was to get down to my goal weight… instead I gained 25 pounds. Whoops!
My goal for 2022 is a bit simpler and I will break it down into smaller goals, but the main goal is to lose weight every month. Even just .25lbs is a win. The point is to be headed in the right direction!
Happy New Year, Berls! And yea for making it to midnight! 🙂 I didn’t make my weight goal for Fitreaders – I didn’t gain or lose, ending up at the same weight (for the second or third year in a row). I am at peace with that. My new goal for 2022 is to add meditation into my routine.
Meditation is so hit or miss for me. I know it’s good for me and I see the benefits but I struggle to stick with it. Good luck adding it to your routine. Are you using any kind of program? I have used Calm and really like it.
I am using the Peloton app – I got it so I can do yoga at home (LOVE IT) and recently found the meditation programs on there. I’ve not tried any others so I can’t compare.
Nice! I think any app is better than trying to go at it solo – Meditation is surprisingly hard (for me at least)!
Glad to read Dante is feeling better. That is so cute that he wanted to go to school- he has really made great progress. Re food my goal for this Month is to track my food daily which always leads to me eating more veggies 🙂
Thank you! we were so relieved as well. And yes, it’s incredible the progress he’s made – makes my heart so glad <3
That's a great goal - I'm still not 100% sure about my eating goals - trying to find my balance! But I'm definitely making sure no soda. Good luck with your goals and Happy New Year!
I’m glad Dante is feeling better! I usually stay up until midnight every year, but I accidentally fell asleep this year and woke up a few minutes after midnight. Oops.
LOL that was me the past couple years – a newborn/toddler makes midnight more of an accomplishment 🙂 But this year we made it! Happy new year!
I’m glad Dante felt better quickly, and so happy you could have a bit more relaxed week with plenty of family and you time. I gained weight during these covid years and am starting to address it now, finally.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I was so relieved that Dante wasn’t sick long – I was worried about COVID of course at first. It was a great week, but yep -time to address this COVID weight gain!! Have a great week Anne!
I’m glad to hear the sickness didn’t last long.
Thank you, it was a relief! Have a great week!
I am sorry Dante was sick, but glad it was nothing that lasted long. It was a slow week for me at work, fortunately–such a nice relief after it’s been so busy all year! It’s probably too much to hope for that this coming week will be slower too. I hope you have a great week, Berls. Happy New Year!
Thank you, I was so grateful it didn’t turn out to be serious. I agree, it was really nice to have a slow week. I have a feeling this week will be busy, thanks to everything we put off last week lol! Good luck and have a great week!
Glad Dante’s illness was short lived! Happy new year!
Thank you!! Happy New Year!
Glad to hear Covid didn’t rear its ugly head and Dante is well again! Good luck with your weight goal. 2021 was a though beast for everyone, so we should cut ourselves some slack if we didn’t manage to reach our goals or were a little self-indulgent. We earned it. Happy 2022!
That was my first thought Roberta! So thankful he had just a minor 24 hour bug. Thank you – yeah I’ve put on some COVID STRESS weight – trying to both cut myself some slack and get it back in check! But I agree, not something to beat ourselves up over. Happy 2022!!
